Kum. Avanthika Meenakshi Srinivasan
Avanthika Meenakshi Srinivasan was born on 9 April 1994
in Chennai, India. Her parents moved to Singapore when she
was one year old. She started showing a keen interest in
Carnatic music and dance at a very tender young age. Hence,
when she was three and half years old, she started on
formal lessons in Carnatic music with Sri.Lenin M.R. Under his
tutelage, she grew as a singer and had vast exposure to
concerts and competitions.
She started singing when she was around six years old
at various temples in Singapore during the “Navarathri” season,
cultural activities and academic activities and has continued
doing so until this day. She has also participated in various
competitions and won several trophies. The most prominent
of these being the National Arts Council (NAC) of Singapore
competition in 2004, when which she walked away with
the third prize in the intermediate category despite being
one of the youngest participants.
Avathika, a studious student exhibits excellence in both
academics and in arts forms. Avanthika’s interests go beyond
Carnatic music. She is well versed in Bharathanatyam and has
performed in several dance dramas. Further, she has completed
her grade V with distinction in classical Ballet and is pursuing
Piano lessons. She enjoys sports as well. Her favorite hobbies are
basketball, tennis and swimming. Her inborn dramatic skills are surfacedas she takes part in our local television Tamil
channel - Vasantham Central serials. Ravindran Drama Group’s
(RDG)production “Ali Baba” gave Avanthika an opportunity to
display her talent in stage plays.
Currently, Avanthika resides in the US and is scheduled to give her Inaugural Vocal Concert (Arangetram) under the guidance of her Guru Sri.Lenin M.R on August 21, 2006 in India and a Vocal Concert in Singapore on September 2, 2006.
